AWT and theory of human conscioussness

This post is a reaction to recent NS article "You won't find consciousness in the brain". In AWT perspective human brain is essentially a condensate of consciousness. This is because every atemporal particle exhibits a traits of conscious behavior: they're moving accross density gradient of vacuum while sniffing for another density gradients via gravitational force/waves like for food, while avoiding the anti-gravity (pressure of radiation). In similar way bacteria or protozoa are following the density gradients of chemical energy concentration, while avoiding heat and another dangers. Analogously, human brain maintains number of solitons, i.e. selfreinforcing wave packets, which are spreading through it like particles of observable reality, which they simulate in advance - so we can say, human brain is sort of simulator of quantum foam, which manifest itself by foamy structure of dark matter at large scale. Therefore it's nothing strange, structure of neurons in simmilar to structure of dark matter streaks and the wavelength of neural solitons (so called human scale) correspond the wavelength of CMB radiation, into which is adopted for by "Similia simillibus observatur" principle.

The insintric property of solitons is, they're making their foamy environment more dense in similar way, like soap foam condenses under shaking temporarily. By Schrodinger equation the mass density of quantum string is proportional by its energy in each space and time interval by E=mc2 equation. You can play with this quantum wave aspect of foamy environment behavior by using Java applet hereing. So when two or more solitons met together, the third soliton will use this place preferably.

By recent studies neural solitons are sound waves supported by electrochemical activity of neural cell membranes. The membrane potential contracts the membrane, which is in elastic liquid crystal state. After sound wave arrival the membrane potencial is discharged by diffusion of ions via ion channels and the membrane surface follows a self reinforcing wave, i.e. a soliton. The whole process repeats itself in ~100 Hz cycle.

 

At the case of highly nonlinear neurons of vertebrates the foamy, extradimensional character of sound wave propagation is forced by internal structure of microtubules in analogous way, in which soliton character of signal in modern hollow-core optical cables is maintained. These fibers served for recent demonstration of quantum phenomena, like event horizons of black holes and Hawking radiation. It means, neuron wave is spreading like evanescent wave in this environment through whole diameter of neuron, thus increasing its nonlinear character under slowing of neuron speed at the price. This mechanism requires to keep temperature of nerves in a quite close range (corresponding the Lifshitz point of quantum criticality), where the liquid crystal nature of membranes is maintained. The cold blooded marine invertebrates are using different strategy and they're increasing speed and eliminating dispersion of solitons by huge diameter of neurons.

 

By excellent Hebbian theory of synaptic plasticity this aspect of soliton behavior is represented by principle "cells that fire together, wire together". When one cell repeatedly assists in firing another, the axon of the first cell develops synaptic knobs (or enlarges them if they already exist) in contact with the soma of the second cell. In this mechanism the principle of associative learning and long-term memory is realized. The process of synapses building is maintained during REM phase of sleep, because its based on dream simulation, where perceptions from outside are suppressed due the strong positive feedback of learning phase. In this way, our brain is gradually becoming terminal board hard-wired for optimal solutions of individual problems, represented by preferred paths of soliton spreading. Maybe the artificial W.I.K.I brain from famous I, robot movie isn't the matter of so distant future.

Schrödinger 1958: A physical scientist does not introduce awareness (sensation or perception) into his theories, and having thus removed the mind from nature, he cannot expect to find it there.

Do particles have a free will?

Mathematicians John H. Conway (inventor of the cellular automaton Game of Life, between many other) and Simon Kochen of Princeton University have proven that if human experimenters demonstrate 'free will' in choosing what measurements to take on a particle, then the axioms of quantum mechanics require that the free will property be available to the particles measured, or to the universe as a whole. It means, that if humans have even the tiniest amount of free will, then atoms themselves must also behave unpredictably. Standard interpretations of quantum mechanics, of course, embrace unpredictability, but many physicists aren't comfortable with that, and are working to develop deterministic interpretations of quantum mechanics. Conway and Kochen's proof argues, that these efforts will be fruitless — unless one is willing to give up human free will, in a very strong sense. Mr. Conway is giving a series of lectures on the 'Free Will Theorem' (ArXiv preprint) and its ramifications over the next month at Princeton. A followup article strengthening the theory (PDF) was published last month in Notices of the AMS.

By AWT every massive particle exhibits insintric unpredictable behavior, because it's always formed by many smaller particles - or at least appears so from human perspective. Every density gradient is realized by density change of many smaller gradients. Therefore the behavior and motion of surface gradient always hides a complexity of particle interior, thus rendering it less or more unpredictable in our eyes. Every particle formed by density gradients can interact only with another object arranged by same way in causal way (simila similibus affectur). The objects, which differs very much in their arrangement mass/energy or space-time distance scale cannot interact mutually in causal way (they're simply "too small" or "too large"). The largest objects which we can observe in causal way are therefore formed by large clusters of particles of the same size, shape and composition, which exhibits an unification and quantization of their behavior. From sufficiently distant/global perspective the behavior of both particles, both their observer becomes easily predictable by the same way, so we cannot separate the free will of particles from free will of their observer - which is n basic logic hidden beneath free will theorem.

AWT interprets the motion of particles in gravity fields as a sort of diffusion, which enables particle to follow the straightest path of mass/energy density gradient of their environment by the same way, like bacteria or protozoa are following the density gradients of chemical energy concentration. By this way, every particle exhibits a traits of consciouses behavior. Note that following of density gradients leads to dissipation of them and "death" of particle undeniably - every manifestation of "life" is always connected to it's "death" in less or distant perspective, therefore the stability criterion leads always to symmetric orbiting paths, i.e. to sort of adaptation of object against its premature evaporation via gravitational waves.

From AWT perspective human consciousness is an emergent effect, i.e. sort of condensate of conscious behavior of many particles, forming the observable universe by the same way, like the black hole can be interpreted as a condensate of spin properties of many particles at distance. While various particle properties and behavior compensate mutually (their mutual transversal motion, for example), some others (like rotation / surface spin or their ability to follow the most advantage path) are cumulative and they manifest itself at macroscopic scale, like black holes or intelligent organism. The living objects are behaving by the same way, being able to follow very weak and long distance interactions, which is interpreted as a "conscious behavior" from macroscopic perspective. But technically it just means, these objects have evolved for sufficient time (during travelling accross sufficiently large density gradient / space-time brane), so that random components of their motion have compensated mutually. By this way, every large object falling into even larger black hole has a chance to become sufficiently clever, until it dissolve completelly at its very end. We are perceiving increasing density of vacuum as an omnidirectional space-time expansion.

We can compare this interpretation of free will to the motion of tent roof, which is hiding dance of many persons behind it. Because every person affect the motion of tent roof in very subtle way, the motion of tent appears unpredictable from this perspective. Apparently chaotic behavior of water surface or human civilization as a whole is the effect of the same category. The motion of components inside of every large system can be interpreted like motion in hidden dimensions with respect to space-time defined by surface of this large system. For example the nuclear force violates the inverse square law for gravity, because it's represented by chaotic motion of nucleons inside of atom nuclei, so that only subtle causal portion of that motion manifest itself at distance. Just the common disbelief in Aether concept prohibited the mainstream science to interpret the probabilistic character of quantum mechanics by this easy and natural way,

AWT and plicate topology

By AWT every causal (logical) theory becomes part of physical reality by the same way, like physical artifact itself, which are dual to it. We tend to consider only reproducible repeating events/artifact as real, thus fulfilling the theories and their causal implication. The random fluctuation of Aether density isn't real for us, until we recognize it like electron, photon, etc., i.e. until we assign it into some conceptual group. Only the fact, consciousness is forming environment for these waves, we tend to consider ideas a non-material artifacts by the same way like the Aether, which is dual approach to consciousness from this perspective.

By this way, the observable reality is forming a brane manifold between our ideas and observations (perceptions) mediated by wits and it has both objective, both subjective character of belief. The symmetry of this duality is broken toward multiplicity of casual approach and intersubjective opinon due the emergence paradigm (more is really more).

The physical theories are ideas formalized by group of nested logical implications, which are connected mutually by correspondence principle. Each implication is defined by its causal time arrow, defining the causality. The time arrow is defined by root system of higher order tensors describing the gradient of space-time compactification, which can be furthermore interpreted by a rotation by Lorentz/Poincaré group in causal space. Implication tensor defines a time arrow of causal space-time curvature and subsequent compactification of it. Therefore antecedent /consequent components of every implication are defining time arrow of theory, thus forming a manifolds of causal space and conceptual basis of every theory.

At less abstract level, ideas/concepts are low energy nested density gradients ("strings" or "membranes") of compacted space-time formed by gradients of electrochemical activity inside of human brain. By holographic theory we can consider them as a supersymmetric low energy density projection of the observable reality into our consciousness. Every idea is represented by dense cluster of standing waves of electrochemical activity inside of our brain, which can become shared and entangled between brains of many members of human society. The process of understanding/sharing of such ideas corresponds the collapse of their wave functions: as the result, these ideas aren't chaotic and invariant for us anymore, they become a component of more general order, characterized by higher level of ideas.

This concept was presented first by Bohm in form of it's implicate/explicate order and it was extrapolated later by "Holographic Brain Theory" of Karl Pribram and by theory of Quantum consciousness of David Chalmers and Sir Roger Penrose. These concepts have all robust physical meaning in context of Heim's theory and AWT.

AWT and definition of intelligence

By AWT correct - i.e. physically relevant - definition of intelligence is rather important, as it can give us a clue about direction of psychological time arrow.

From certain perspective every free particle appears like quite intelligent "creature", because it can find the path of the optimal potential gradient unmistakably even inside of highly dimensional field where interactions of many particles overlaps mutually. Whereas single particle is rather "silly" and it can follow just a narrow density gradient, complex multidimensional fluctuations of Aether can follow a complex gradients and they can even avoid a wrong path or obstacles at certain extent. They're "farseeing" and "intelligent". Note that the traveling of particle along density gradient leads into gradual dissolving of it and "death". The same forces, which are keeping the particle in motion will lead to its gradual disintegration of it.

The ability of people to make correct decisions in such fuzzy environment is usually connected with social intelligence. We can say, motion of particle is fully driven by its "intuition". They can react fast in many time dimensions symmetrically (congruently), whereas their ability to interact with future (i.e. ability of predictions) still remains very low, accordingly to low (but nonzero) memory capacity of single gradient particle. Nested clusters of many particles are the more clever, the more hidden dimensions are formed by. Electrochemical waves of neural system activity should form a highly nested systems of energy density fluctuations.

Neverthelles, if we consider intelligence as "an ability to obtain new abilities", then the learning ability and memory capacity of single level density fluctuations still remains very low. Every particle has a surface gradient from perspective of single level of particle fluctuations, so it has an memory (compacted space-time dimensions) as well. Therefore for single object we can postulate the number of nested dimensions inside of object as a general criterion of intelligence. The highly compactified character of neuron network enables people to handle a deep level of mutual implications, i.e. manifolds of causual space defined by implication tensors of high order. Such definition remains symmetrical, i.e. invariant to both intuitive behaviour driven by parallel logics, both conscious behaviour, driven by sequential logics.

Every highly condensed system becomes chaotic, because intelligent activities of individual particles are temporal and they're compensating mutually here. By such way, the behavior of human civilization doesn't differ very much from behavior of dense gas, as we can see from history of wars and economical crisis, for instance. The ability of people to drive the evolution of their own society is still quite limited in general. We can consider such ability as a criterion of social self-awareness. The process of phase transition corresponds learning phase of multi-particle system.

Interesting point is, individual members of such systems may not be aware of incoming phase transition, because theirs space-time expands (the environment becomes more dense) together with these intelligent artifacts. At certain moment the environment becomes more conscious (i.e. negentropic), then the particle system formed by it and phase transition will occur. The well known superfluidity and superconductivity phenomena followed by formation of boson condensate can serve as a physical analogy of sectarian community formation, separated from the needs/feedback of rest of society. Members of community can be internally characterized by their high level of censorship (total reflection phenomena with respect to information spreading) and by superfluous homogeneity of individual stance distribution, followed by rigidity and fragility of their opinions (i.e. by duality of odd and even derivations in space and time) from outside perspective.

AWT explains, how even subtle forces of interests between individuals crowded around common targets cumulate under emergence of irrational behavior gradually. Because such environment becomes more dense, the space-time dilatation occurs here and everything vents OK from insintric perspective. As the result, nobody from sectarian community will realize, he just lost control over situation.

For example, people preparing LHC experiments cannot be accused from evil motives - they just want to do some interesting measurements on LHC, to finish their dissertations, make some money in attractive job, nurse children, learn French, and so on… Just innocent wishes all the time, am I right? But as a whole their community has omitted serious precautionary principles under hope, successful end justifies the means.

Particle model explains, how even subtle forces of interests between individuals crowded around common targets cumulate under emergence of irrational behavior gradually. For example, nobody of this community has taken care about difference in charged and neutral black holes in their ability to swallow surrounding matter. As a result, nobody of members of such community realizes consequence of his behavior until very end.

And this is quite silly and unscouscios behavior, indeed.

How much Universe appears clever for us?

By AWT the Universe appears as infinite random field of nested density fluctuations. The chaotic systems are usually perceived as a counterpart of highly intelligent systems, but this stance can be misleading. For example, from perspective of ancient people or our animal pets the modern civilization and human behavior would appear a highly chaotic and unpredictable, because these unconscious observers would lack insights, about hidden motivations of people in many nested dimensions. The introduction of hidden dimensions can be modeled by projection of regularly rotating rod in 3D into 2D plane: the motion of rod shadow will always appear more chaotic then the motion of original rod. And the image of rod will appear shortened in average - so it will resemble the chaotic motion of zero dimensional Aether particles more closely (a holographic intepretation of quantum mechanics and Universe is based on such insight, too). Therefore the density fluctuations inside of gas ("strings" or "branes") can be modelled by projection of causual waves in higher dimensions as a caustics energy density patterns into our low-dimensional reality.



Therefore we can imagine, the motion inside of fields of nested density fluctuations is highly deterministic from sufficiently general perspective, because the chaotic motion of these "unparticles" is just driven by many interactions at the same moment, so that such particles reflect all changes of environment immediately and exactly, being lightweight sufficiently. We can say, the intelligence of people is limited just because they cannot reflect all changes of their environment by sufficiently fast and farseeing way - while all these clever elementary particle can. This is the reason, why the evolution of nonliving matter occurs in substantially wider range of conditions, then the evolution (a condensation) of organic matter (while the later occurs much faster, indeed) - these smarty particles are apparently a quite well adopted to their environment already!

From this dual perspective the fully chaotic Universe appears as infinitely intelligent system instead (a sort of an omnipresent and omniscient God), whereas the human intelligence is just a tiny part of it, concentrated into tiny space-time by long-term evolution. Such insight renders various deistic and transhumanistic approaches a quite relevant by the same way, like the idea, the civilization runs as a simulation. Unfortunately, these approaches are too radical and as such unbalanced and distant from everyday perspective, so it's not so easy to derive some testable predictions by using them, with compare to AWT. Instead of it - as we can see - these ideas can be derived from AWT concepts easily by logical way.

The title question is related closely to question, why the Universe appears so well fitted and balanced for human life evolution? By AWT this observation isn't accidental at all, because every causal condensate would perceive its neighborhood as a best fitted to its needs, being a product of its evolution. By AWT every anthropic view of reality is balanced by insight, the Universe is just a product of human illusions, so we are seeing the Universe as a best place for life simply because we tend to ignore the other lethal combinations subconsciously, the parallelized information mediated by longitudinal waves in particular.

"I feeling"/ego corresponds the total reflection phenomena, where waves are bouncing from internal wall of every density gradient in this perspective. Only when this density gradient is sufficiently intensive (i.e. intelligent) a total reflection can occur. From AWT perspective of Boltzmann brain an interesting connection follows: every sufficiently large piece of random chaos can become intelligent automatically and it will interact with the rest of it by the similar way, like we are observing our Universe.

AWT, human spirit and various psychic phenomena

As the human brain is fascinating product of evolution, it's mainly a giant electrochemical machine, which consumes over 15% of human body metabolic energy. The heat production by brain is believed to be a significant factor of marine mammals thermoregulation. We should realize, most of this energy is released in the form of collective motion of charged ions, so it has a distance effects as so called EEG waves. Unfortunately, electromagnetic waves emanated by individual neurons are compensating mutually, so they cannot propagate at the distance.

By AWT the human brain is essentially a electrochemical simulator of Aether reality formed by quantum foam. This concept isn't quite new, as the holographic idea of quantum consciousness was introduced by K.H. Pribram in the mid of 60's and further developed by Sir R. Penrose later. By AWT approach, the quantum character of neural network signals manifests at the millimeter scale as a standing waves of electrochemical activity inside of human brain. The non-linear quantum character of brain waves is the consequence of soliton model of neural signal propagation (sound pulses), by which the neural net is behaving like supercritical fluid (temperature of axon membranes in warm-blooded animals is slightly above the critical temperature for the phase transition leading from crystal like state of the lipid layers to a liquid crystal state). Thermoregulation has developed first for predators, i.e. high IQ organisms with fast reactions (Aves, Tyrannosaurus rex, Carcharodon carcharius, Thunnus thynnus, etc.).



In this point, AWT brings a new testable insights into physical theory of human spirit and various psychic phenomena by considering of concept of so called scalar field, which was introduced by Tesla's experiments into alternative physics. The modern quantum mechanics phenomena, like the entanglement and/or Aharamov-Bohm effect seems to support the concept of scalar waves, which can be considered as a manifestation of hidden dimensions of vacuum. By AWT the vacuum foam is behaving like urethane mattress, so it undulates by two fundamental ways, so called Abelian group perturbations in many nested dimensions in transversal waves:

In addition, the undulations can switch their dimensional level in certain range, so that the energy is transferring from one space-time level into another and back again in longitudinal waves (i.e. ). This mode of energy exchange is called non-Abelian perturbations and it's responsible for neutrino or quark color oscillations, for example. We can met with this kind of undulations in common life at the case of so called Widnall instability of vortex rings:

As the result, the electromagnetic waves are propagating through vacuum in many dimensions at the same moment, which cannot be characterized completely by their electrostatic and electromagnetic field vectors, because they're affecting just a density of vacuum, not electromagnetic signals. As the most common source of scalar waves could serve toroid coil or so called caduceus bifiliar coil, where the polarization vectors are compensated mutually. It means, it may be possible, such scalar field surrounds every neural network as a quantum mirage of electrochemical waves in the human brain, thus forming a physical basis of spirit phenomena. The longitudinal gravitomagnetic interaction and London cohesion interactions can play a significant role here by the same way, like at the case of so-called ball lightning phenomena, which involves a complex motion of ionized particles (Rydberg atoms) as well. And as such they can have a mechanical effects at distance, thus opening a wide space for physically relevant explanation of various psychic phenomena (like anesthesia, telepathy, psychokinesis or even levitation etc..), which were reported repeatedly.

Aether and anthropic principle

By AWT the universe is basically quite random, but it still enables us to see some order in it due the limited speed of information, which restricts the amount of congruent states in it. The fact, we can see only ordered portion of chaos (a density gradients of it) makes the reality driven by gradients. I.e. everything, what we are enabled to see, are just the mass/energy density changes in time and/or space - and nothing else. These gradients are either a subject of observation, either the way, by which the information is mediated, i.e. propagated at distance (by the same way, like the density gradient of Aether forming the water surface is serving for propagation of transversal surface waves at distance). This leads to the sort of optimization problem: which concentration of density gradients enables to see as most, as possible? The sparse system of density fluctuations is transparent, while the dense one suffers the dispersion - so we can propose both optimal geometry, both the optimal density of such geometry with respect to reach information spreading.

Despite the natural character of this model, we should put the question, why is it all so? Why the reality is gradient driven and the transversal waves are forming the only way, by which the causal information is mediated? By my opinion the reason is somewhat anthropic: the character of transversal waves enables the complexity of our world, because it's energy density dependent. The mass density of multicomponent environment, which can serve for transversal wave spreading is proportional to the energy density of that wave. By such way, every transversal wave is behaving like less or more "intelligent creature", because it not just only spreads through environment passively, but it affects it by the way of positive feedback: it collects the other transversal waves from it's neighborhood, while avoids the mass/energy density voids, i.e. obstacles. Even the most trivial transversal wave soliton behaves like living organism, like bacteria (prokaryote), which follows the (chemical) energy density gradients (sugar or proteins), while avoiding the places of low energy density, i.e. exhibiting a sort of rudimentary consciousness. We can observe this behavior on the colony of slime mold Dictyostelium discoideum, which follows the concentration of sugar leaking from the opened tip of pipette.

We can consider the people as an exaggerated example of such behavior, which is the result of both long-term evolution, both the very special and prosperous condition in our special place of galaxy. No wonder, such creatures, formed by highly condensed clusters of transversal waves in many nested dimensions would prefer the transversal waves as the preferred (if not only one..) way of causal reality, while ignoring the other mechanisms of information spreading. Such stance is analogous to belief, the droplet cloud coming from cup of tea is the only form of water vapor, just because it's most apparent. This aspect makes the Aether concept so fairy, volatile , difficult to grasp by many people: the only way, by which the creatures formed by density gradients can interact with its environment are just the density gradients, so they've problem to imagine, the observable density fluctuations are just a visible top of reality iceberg.
